I just signed up to the 100 Songs In 180 Days Songwriting Challenge on Facebook. It was created as a way for participants of FAWM and the 50 Songs In 90 Days Songwriting Challenges to make the best use of the time spent in lockdown thanks to COVID-19.
According to its Facebook page, the 100 Songs In 180 Days Songwriting Challenge is described as follows…
The challenge is to write 100 songs in 180 days (aka 100/180). The challenge begins on April 4, 2020 and ends October 1, 2020. The second half of 100/180 will run concurrent to the 50 songs in 90 days challenge (aka 50/90) from July 4th through October 1st.
This challenge is intended to be complementary to 50/90 during this year where many of us find ourselves spending much more time at home than in other times. The purpose of this group is to provide a location for posting songs written during 100/180.
It is hoped to develop a supportive environment (similar to February Album Writing Month and 50/90) and like FAWM and 50/90, the goal is to send the inner editor on vacation, write, and have fun, no matter what the song output is.
With all that said, I’m going to post my demos on this blog as there’s no official 100/180 website to upload songs to as yet (and trying to upload multiple song links on a Facebook page can get pretty clumsy).
If you’re a songwriter with some time on your hands I suggest that you go to the 100 Songs In 180 Days Songwriting Challenge Facebook page and join in all the fun.
What better way to spend your lockdown time then writing songs
