I came, I saw, I played and now I wait…
This pretty much summed up my Australia’s Got Talent audition experience in a nutshell but I did enjoy myself nevertheless.
It started off with Mara (my lovely partner who came along as moral support) and I arriving at the Adelaide Showgrounds at around 9:45am and going to the end of a queue which stretched to about 50-60 metres long.
The waiting game had begun…

The Queue

Another Angle
While we were waiting in line Mara and I got chatting to some people behind us, a couple of young hopefuls from Naracoorte in the South East (about 4 hours drive from Adelaide).
One of the young hopefuls recieved some unwanted attention from a very intoxicated and drug induced tranny being asked to sing on cue for his entertainment (while fully admitting that his involvement in the audition was purely as a “joke”)
This went on for about 10 minutes (funny after the first two) until the mother of the young hopeful concerned politely tore strips off him.
It was fantastic to watch.
Two hours later we finally get inside and proceed to the first registration desk where I gave my name and received a release form to fill in and was directed to another part of the building where the formal registration takes place.
There was another long line in front of us…
About an hour later I finally got to the second registration table and handed in my AGT questionaire (that I downloaded off their website a few days prior to the audition) plus the release form which I had just finished reading and signing.
I was then given my number – s2166

#s2166
Mara and I then made ourselves at home in the call-up area and waited for my time to audition.
My number was eventually called up and while I was whisked away to another room I met up with a couple of people that I knew from the Open Mic Network who were giving the auditions a go as well.
While in this room I had a brief chat with one of the AGT audtioners (no Brian, Kyle or Danni were to be seen, that comes later in the next phase of the competition) and then I started to play “Message In A Bottle”.
About half way through I was told to stop and was asked if I can play one of my songs.
Cool.
I got halfway through “We Cant Be Together Anymore” when I was told that the audition was over and that I’ll be notified by December 16th ONLY if I get into the next round.
That was it, time to go home. The time was 1:30pm
We walked outside after saying our goodbyes to all of the people we met and to our surprise the line had disappeared, the space was empty.
The security guard by the door told us that there had been no line for about 30 minutes. Where were all the people?
Anyways, I had a great time and even though I spent a lot of my time waiting I would do it all over again.
I want to thank everybody that personally or via Facebook, text and email, encouraged me, said kind words and above all, instilled me with the confidence that I could do it and that if successful in getting into the next round, will be right behind me every step of the way.
Now, I wait for December 16th but watch this space, you’ll be the first to know what happens next.
Peace,
Corey
